There are some artists that you know have a story to tell. Porter Ray feels that way to me. The seemingly young, smooth singer/emcee has an obvious charisma and way with the ladies. His live show is just as good, if not better, than recordings of his tracks but he really pushes that envelope on this two-EP package. Porter exemplifies the good old days of Central District rap and leaves you wanting more at the end of each cut. His premiere BLK GOLD EP received critical underground acclaim but none of the three EPs have broken through and gotten national attention yet. However, the City Arts “Album of the Month” award for WHT GLD/RSE GLD is certainly not a bad look.
With that, I present to you WHT GOLD/RSE GOLD (and BLK GOLD, just so you’re hip) — sit back, light something smooth, and enjoy what Porter Ray delivers.
