About a month ago Hoodie Allen announced that he would be releasing an all acoustic album titled ‘Americoustic‘, fast forward to today and Hoodie is the proud owner of the #4 album on iTunes and holding down the #1 album on the Hip Hop charts. It was an interesting idea by Hoodie; his songs blend over the line between hip hop and pop, most of his fans are teenie boppers, so why not go completely mainstream on a project. While all the tracks have previously been released, there was a ton of work that went into this album; each track has a unique sound and when you aren’t used to belting it out like JT or Bruno Mars, it can be intimidating to put yourself out there with nothing but a guitar. Easily my two favorite tracks are ‘Two Lips‘ and ‘High Again‘. I was confused as to why he went with ‘Cake Boy‘ when he has many other songs that would have fit this album much better.
