Here is the blueprint for a forgettable album. Hall of Fame is an unfocused cluster of songs and lyrics that very loosely ties together some sort of album concept. It’s shameful at best and a complete waste coming from someone so talented.
The first two songs on the album seem to follow the G.O.O.D. Music formula. There’s nothing wrong with following a formula, but you gotta stick to it. The next three songs deviate from any type of clarity that the first two songs created! 10 2 10 is the worst song on the album. I don’t understand why there’s a video for it. This song is so hard to listen to, it’s just corny. His other single Beware is a decent song. Lil Wayne almost ruined it with his garbage verse. Jhene Aiko saved the song with her work on the hook and her bridge at the end. First Chain is the very next song. The Nas feature was a bit random and the loud crackling sound in the first minute of the song really overshadows the beat.
Even though I will probably never listen to First Chain again, he does have some catchy songs scattered throughout the album. World Ablaze is one of the best tracks on the album. The intro to the song is powerful and the beat is on point. All Figured Out has the substance and lyrical content that I want to hear from Big Sean. Sierra Leone is a decent song too followed by a great skit, Greedy Ho’s. The song goes into detail about the diamonds and gold he deals out to his women daily. The skit is about these very same women stealing his valuables as soon as they get a chance. I really appreciate this skit because everybody around you doesn’t love you, some of them just want what you have.
Don’t be so quick to press the skip button, because there are a few hidden gems in this pile. Overall, Hall of Fame is a really hard listen. Not only am I unimpressed, I’m ashamed to be a fan. The sophomore curse hit this man hard. In no way, shape or form will Hall of Fame create any type of longevity for Big Sean. In previous eras of the genre he would have been forgotten after he released Guap. I hope he’s working on his next album because I’m already done with this one.

This video was tastefully done with Miley Cyrus.
